Hi,
I have had my LPR since 2004 (through work), unfortunately due to extensive travel schedule I had with my company I don't have the physical time in the US to apply for citizenship.
I got married last year and my wife and child live in UAE. To get her an immigration visa it would take 4.5 years, this is the current backlog if I want to sponsor her.
I have consulted lots of people / lawyers and it seams there is no way around it.
The latest suggestion from my company immigration lawyer is to let go my green card and come back to the US on an L1 visa and get my wife on an L2 visa. Few questions:
1. Do people recommend this options?
2. Have anyone done such a thing before?
3. If I let go my LPR do I lose my visa number / I-140?
4. How long would it take to re-acquire a green card?
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards,
-LK
