Biometrics mandatory for Re-Entry permit?

Hi,

I got my Green Card though family based immigration in June 2009 and applied for Re-Entry permit in July 2009. I am relocating to India on 5th Sept 2009 and have no plans to come back before 2011.

My questions:
-->I gave my finger prints in march 2009 for my I-130, so do they still need my finger prints for re-entry permit?
-->Is biometrics always needed for re-entry permit?
-->Suppose the biometrics notice does'nt come before I leave to India, can I get the finger printing done in US embassy in India?

they are mandatory

bio-metrics are mandatory for re-entry permits. i got mine done recently but i had done the application as an "expediate" matter so i had mine biometric appointment within 1 week of filing the application. also i had my reentry permit sent to UK for collection so everything went smoothly. but biometrics is mandatory and it has to be done before your lease USA, cannot be done in india or outside USA.

Thanks for the information. I did'nt know about the "expediate" process until after I applied mine in a regular fashion. Is there any way I can push my application for expediate process now?

no cant be done now

no cant be done now as you have to send prepaid envelope to uscis so they can send you your appointment letter. also you had to label your envelope "expedite" and send a covering letter explaining your reasons for expedite request. so i am sorry for that.......................
