Reentry permit

Hello,

Im am a US resident and I already have a reentry permit. I would like an extension of this permit. I dont know what should I do or even if I can actually ask for an extension. What can I do? Do I have to wait untill the one that I have expires? Or should I start now? My reentry permit expires on August 1.
