I had a family based green card- my mother is dual. I left the U.S. for Canada although I still had a bank account there. I abandoned my card upon rentry for a vacation (I didn't turn it in when I left). Will this effect my reapplication? Will I be able to get a new green card?

My mother is a dual citizen Canada-US and has lived in Canada her whole life. She attained her dual in 1991. My grandfather was American. I am Canadian, went to school in the US, attained my green card at 23 and worked in the States for about 10 years. I have returned to Canada and abandoned my Green Card. I'm looking at returning to the US and am wondering if my mother can sponsor me again, even if she doesn't live in the US.Comment
