Leaving after filing reentry permit before doing biometrics

HI,

I had to leave the country with an AP (still valid) before getting GC. Now I have the GC, my lawyer advised me to come back to US and apply for a reentry permit (I will need to stay outside for probably 1 year or so). Can I enter US, submit the application and leave after that, before doing biometrics? My plan was to come back again to US once I receive the letter from USCIS with biometric appointment. But I am afraid to leave before the biometrics

Yes, you can leave after applying for the Re-entry Permit, but you have to make sure you are still in the US on the date that USCIS officially receives it.
