Retaining green card

Hi,
My girlfriend is a green card holder but she has been out of the USA for more than 3 years looking after our US citizen child in her home country.The reason that she did this is because it was easier as she had her mum to help her. She did not apply for a re entry permit before she left but now she would like to return to the USA.Is it possible to return? maybe travelling back with our US born son will make it easier? she has a new passport with no stamps so how will they know when she was in the USA last? is it on the computer?

Hello,
14 years ago me and my mother left the US and returned to our home country. I was then 9 years old, so I couldn't decide to stay there, the desicion was made by my mother instead. And of course we returned our green cards to the US embassy in our country. Now I would like to get my green card back, and return to the US. Is it possible? And if it is, what should I do?
