  • Should I be concered? (IR->CR)

    Sorry if this has been rehashed but I wanted some clarity on my current status since calling USCIS has proven useless. I filed an i-751 in Feb 2020 and received an i-797 on 3/5/2020 acknowledging receipt and payment and allowing extension for 18 months. I received a notice about a week later for biometrics to take place on 3/31/20. Due to rise in covid cases and closure of USCIS offices in March, it was stated that the biometric appointments would be automatically rescheduled. It's now end of October and I haven't received a new date for fingerprints.

    Should I be concerned? Due to a emergency I have to visit India. Can I just travel with i-797 or do I need a i-551 stamp? Sorry if this is confusing. This has been a stressful time personally.

    Thank you in advance for reading and any insight.

    Yes, you can travel on the expired green card plus extension letter.

    This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

      I would double-check they didn't use your fingerprints from the I485. I got a letter in June saying they had applied by fingerprints from two years ago to my case and a biometrics appointment would not be necessary.
