Going outside US for 5 months with GC

Hello there,
I am planning to go outside US for about 4 to 5 months, BUT NOT MORE THAN 5 months, because of some personal issues to resolve. I have a valid GC.

Do I need to obtain re-entry permit particularly for this case?

Does anyone in this forum have personal experience of going outside US for about 4 to 5 months and re-entered US without re-entry permit?

You only need a re-entry permit if you plan to stay longer than 1 year.
