Re-entry permit

Hi, I want to ask a question, my permanent 2 years green card expired about 6 months ago, and I'm still waiting to an interview. But my real problem is, I wanted to travel outside of US, do I need a re-entry permit. Hope somebody know to help me out of this situation. Thank you so much.

Take an InfoPass appointment at the local USCIS office to see if they will put a temporary green card stamp on your passport.
