Re-entry permit

My Mother in law who is a green card holder for the past 15 years visited India Jan 11,2010.

During her visit to India she had to undergo surgery which occurred last month and she is unable to travel back to the USA immediately in July which will be her 6 month time period.

We would like to get an extension for her stay in India . What is the process? should I file a reentry permit?

You can't really apply for reentry permit from India.

She can stay outside the US for as long as she stays. The issue is reentering the US.
