To more explicit, we are still in a legitimate and bona fide marriage. He just got a job with a cruise line and will be out of the country for a year. This December, I know that we will be moving to South Dakota (me physically and him by address, since he will still be working on the cruise). We have already filed the i-751 (jointly) and have our fingers crossed that we are not requested to do an interview since we front loaded our application (we had sent everything we have and even had to use a USPS box-all documents with our information showing that we are legit [even our marriage counselor wrote a letter on a letterhead on our behalf]). So, I guess this leads me to my questions:

    1) What should I do if my spouse is unable to attend i-751 interview because he's working on the seas (if requested)? (P.S. We already had an initial during the AOS process)

    2) Because he'll be gone for that long, I am wondering how my N400 application will even look like. I know we wont have that much pictures, or joint expenses... I am really dreading what that process will be like.... so please let me know if you have any nugget of knowledge about this scenario....
The fact that you said you front-loaded your application, tells me that you did your homework. As someone else mentioned, USCIS is waiving I-751 interviews if you had an initial I-485 interview. My spouse and I had to attend an interview and are not expecting to attend one for the I-751. We are also not expecting prompt adjudication of the I-751. My guess is that my spouse will become eligible for naturalization while we wait for the I-751 to adjudicate.

Even though you do not live together, there are many things you can show as evidence:
    - joint tax returns (federal and state)
    - Notarized affidavits from people who know you.
    - Text messages/ records of video chats
    - Health care directive - (you would designate each other to make health care decisions in case either one of you is unable to at some point)
    - health insurance (medical, dental, disability)
    - 401k/IRAs
    - joint checking/savings
    - list each other as emergency contact, list each other as beneficiary on 401K/IRAs

If they send you both an invitation for an interview, I would just be straightforward and show that your husband is working on a cruise ship. It cannot be the first time that USCIS has had a similar situation arise. I am sure they will provide a viable solution - attend by yourself, or your spouse will attend via video conference. (I do not know)

What is important is that you continue to document your relationship and especially, the money trail. He should be on your lease. List him anywhere you can.

    All the best,

    USCFFS

        Case Update:

        04/26/2021: I-751 Sent
04/27/2021: I-751 Delivered (signed for by T. Wright)
05/12/2021: Pending Credit Card Charge for $680.00 (15 days)

I guess this means I can expect my case number by text later... If not, is it possible for me to call USCIS customer service for an update later?

JAM-US I am glad to hear that you have all those documents. I meant to say that in the event that USCIS decides to invite you both for an interview, I would be proactive and definitely call and explain the situation before hand. You may need to make an appointment and explain that in person. I do not know how that would work. I would not just show up by myself to the interview and then explain that your husband is at sea working on a cruise ship.

Is Vermont Service Center moving faster than usual? I didn't expect this until late summer.

                            4/7 - I-751 delivered
                            4/27 - check cashed
                            4/30 - Received I-797(Receipt Notice/18 Months Extension)
5/5 - Case was updated to show fingerprints were taken
5/7 - Received I-797C( Notice of Action/ Reuse of previously captured fingerprints and biometrics)

I’m guessing that’s going to be enough to apply for citizenship in the meantime.
