  • Rentry with Name Change on US documents old name on passport

I legally changed my first name (since no one could ever pronounce my German name here) and added a middle name via court order. Kept my last name. Changed SSA, green card, drivers license etc
it was a long process, especially to get a new green card with the new name.

My German passport still has the old German first name.

So I'm planning to travel to / visit Germany soon. Does the name on the ticket have to match my German passport? I think so.

But then my name on the ticket won't match my green card when I want to reenter the US.

I still have the old card as well, but they have the new name on the system at USCIS. Will immigration at the airport accept a ticket with my German name, when I show the name change order and the green card (with the new name)?

That whole thing sounds sketchy and I don't want to raise any red flags while traveling to / visiting Germany and reentering the USA

    What is the correct procedure?
    11/25/2016 - Priority Date
    01/13/2017 - Biometrics appointment
03/07/2017 - Combo Card received in mail
03/13/2017 - Social Security Card received in mail
08/24/2017 - Interview ready to be scheduled
    08/30/2017 - Interview scheduled for 10/05/2017
    10/05/2017 - Case approved

I would imagine that your ticket needs to match your German passport. As far it getting back in US, I would recommend you carry with you the court order name change document so that you have a legal document showing your first name change, if you were to be asked for it.
