How long does it takes to received SSC?

Good morning guys. Does anyone know or has any idea of how long does it takes for an applicant to receive his social security card once the applicant has received his green card. So this person that I know received his green card back in Mid-March and he went to apply to his local social security administration for a SSN. It’s been over 4 months and still haven’t receive his card. This person already called the SSA several times and all they told him is that they still waiting from the Dept. of Homeland Sec. to verify his documents. Does any one know or has heard of something similar to this situation? Please help me with this.

I have read that it takes some time for Homeland to update the records and is better to wait a few weeks before going to the SSA office. Do you know how many weeks between GC approved and SSA office visit?

Anyway, it looks like something is not right. Another visit to the SSA office is possible? Maybe that way they can check if all documents are correct in the system.

It can take some time. That is why it is a good idea to check the box on the I-765 requesting USCIS to notify the SSA to issue a social security number/card.
