Hi all,
I have a US Green Card but my Venezuelan Passport is set to expire soon. I would like to be able to travel next summer and it's very difficult to renew my passport since all Venezuelan embassies in the US have been closed down. Reading about the re-entry permit here (https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/...uides/B5en.pdf), I found the following blurb which seems to fit my situation:
"You may also want to get a reentry permit if you plan on traveling outside the United States and cannot or do not wish to get a passport from your home country. Many countries throughout the world may allow you to use a reentry permit much like you would use a passport—placing necessary visas and entry and exit stamps in the permit—so you may use it as your main travel document. Be sure to check with any country you plan to visit about specific requirements before you travel"
All this to say, has anyone been in a similar situation and gotten the re-entry permit? How was your experience applying for/getting the permit? How long did it take for you?
How was your experience using the permit? What country did you go to? Did you need to get a Visa in addition?
Specifically, I'm thinking of travelling to Germany. Has anyone used a re-entry permit to get into Germany? Were there any issues? Were you able to then travel to other countries in Europe in the Schengen zone without issue?
Thank you!
