    How long can the GC holder stay away from US, Just want to make sure they don't ask any questions while coming back or cancel the GC.

    you have to spend no less than 180 days per year in the US. If you need to be out of the US for more than 180 days in any given year then you must apply for special permission to be absent....and under no conditions will permission be given for more than 2 years at a time

      Thanks, So, If I plan to come back to US before 180 days and go back India, how long should I be there in US. Is there a limit for that ?

        This is also not true. A green card by itself is valid for re-entry for an absence of up to 1 year. A Re-entry Permit is only needed for re-entry after an absence of more than 1 year. And even if you are absent for more than 1 year without a Re-entry Permit, it's possible for the officer to waive the requirement and let you in anyway.

          More than 180 continuous days of absence can trigger extra scrutiny on your inspection.
