  • Travel during renewal of Green Card(I-90)?

I am due for travel in Jan - Feb next year. Also, my GC(I-90) renewal application submission will happen during this time. Considering the processing times now, I may NOT be able to get my GC within a year of receipt date.

So, would like to know, how one can travel out/into US during pending GC renewal? Are there any hassles during boarding a flight into US, and also at POE?
Also, how would it be, if we are changing our jobs, during pending GC renewal.

    Please advise.

The I-90 receipt serves as a 24-month extension letter, meaning that the I-90 receipt + the expired green card = a valid green card until 24 months after the card expired. You should have no problems at the POE.

If you need to complete the I-9 when starting a new job, you can choose to use either your unrestricted Social Security card (a List C document) and your state driver's license (a List B document), or you can use your expired green card and I-90 receipt (which together serve as a List A document. In both of these cases, the I-9 does not need to be re-verified.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

Please help me with answering below queries on the I-90 form.

      Part 3. Processing Information

1.Location where you applied for an immigrant visa or adjustment of status
      - Is this the location where we got our first visa stamped? AOS was done when I was in US. Is there a way to obtain this information from our documents?

2.Location where your immigrant visa was issued or USCIS office where you were granted
      adjustment of status
      - Similar confusion.

3.a. Destination in the United States at the time of admission
3.a.1 POE where admitted to the United States(City or Town and State)
      - Is this about our first arrival in US?
