Is 6 months stay in U.S counted within a calendar year?

I and my wife entered the U.S.A on an immigrant visa in August of 2023, planning to travel to India in April 2024.

Is the 6 months required stay calculated within a calendar year or is it since the time of entry into the country as green card holders.

If we travel to India in April, it will cover 4 months in 2024, are we required to return in November to complete the remaining 2 months?
