Re-entry permit

My Family has Green card. My wife & son applied for I-131 Re-entry permit in end of Jan'23 and finger printing completed in early Mar'23 and they went to India on end of May'23. We hadn't got any actions on the I-131 after finger printing.

Whether my family needs to come before May'23 or we need to wait till we get any status update on the application?

It is always better to arrive before a year's absence, if the I-131 application is still pending.
