GC and going to India for a short trip - IR5 GC

My in-laws recently appeared for interviews in Mumbai and go their GCs (IR5). They will arrive in US next month (their immigrant visa and medical expire in June). However, due to some family events they need to go back to India in August (stay there till October-November) and then come back to the US. Do they need any special permission for this short travel back to India? Please advise

to the best of my knowledge, there should be no issues with this travel. As soon as they enter US, they would have a I-551 stamp on the passport which would extend the validity date by a year.
