Planning to travel Dallas → Chennai, India (Oct 23 - Nov 22) with expired conditional green card + 48-month I-797 extension letter. Need real experiences!
What I Have:
The Problem: Contacted Qatar Airways and Emirates - both were vague and said "check with embassy." I'm not worried about US re-entry, I'm worried about airlines letting me BOARD in Chennai for my return flight.
My Questions:
CBP guidance says airlines should accept this documentation, but foreign airline staff may not be familiar with it. Any real-world experiences would be hugely helpful before I book!
What I Have:
- Expired conditional GC (Sept 20, 2025)
- Valid I-797 Notice of Action (48-month extension until Sept 2029)
- Valid passport
- USCIS Emma agent + lawyer both confirmed I'm good to travel, don't need I-551 ADIT stamp

My Questions:
- Has anyone traveled internationally with expired conditional GC + I-797 extension in 2024-2025?
- Any experiences with Qatar Airways or Emirates specifically?
- Did airline staff accept the I-797 at check-in or give you problems?
- Should I get the I-551 stamp anyway despite USCIS saying I don't need it?
