  • GC-holder was registered to vote by DOL without knowledge or consent

I have been a permanent resident since 1986 and live in Washington State.
About 5 weeks ago I went to the Dept of Licensing to change my address on my drivers license. About 4 weeks after that (last week) I received a voter registration card from King County Elections in the mail. The very next day I went to King County Elections to have myself removed from the voter rolls immediately, which they did. They also gave me written notification that I was no longer registered to vote.
It appears that the Department of Licensing registered me to vote without my knowledge and consent. I would have never agreed to this had I known, as I am only too keenly aware that it is illegal for a non-citizen to vote.
I tried to get written confirmation from the DOL that they registered me without my knowledge and consent which of course they will not do.
So, now I am wondering what kind of a mess I might be in with USCIS since now there exists a record with King County Elections that I was registered to vote, albeit only for about 4 weeks. Will there be any bad consequences the next time I renew my gc or apply for citizenship?
    Thank you for your help

You should first speak to a higher up person at the state department and if they refuse to acknowledge their mistake you can consult a lawyer and have them to the state department. You must have signed some form when you applied for the license and they will have record of it.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
