Hello!

If I am carrying a 1 month old LCD TV to India and if it is under Rs. 25,000 (at the time of purchase of the TV), does it go through as duty free?

It doesnt matter how long you have had the TV set for. Customs has their own price list & will charge you duty based on that. However, if you have your original receipt, the value on the receipt will be used for valuation. you are allowed Rs. 12000 as duty free. Anything above will be levied duty.

I thought the limit was 25,000 Rs and not 12,000.

Yes, it is Rs. 25,000.

Rs. 12,000 was the old limit a long time ago.

Can the LCD TV be included in the 25000 limit?

Yes, any electronics can be included. A laptop is also allowed on top of the allowed Rs.25000.

They will go with their evaluation of the price and you have to fight and possibly take care of them with your receipt.

If I were you, I would just sell that here and buy a new one in India. With all the voltage difference and other hassles, it is not worth the trouble.
