Re-entry india with overstay due to criminal case

Dear forum,

I had to overstay my h1b expiration by 6 months to fight a criminal charge. I was not employed for 6 months. Now I am returning to India. My questions:

- Do I have to tell the authorities in the Indian airport about the case?
- Do they make any records in any electronic database?

You won't find any problem returning to India as long as you have valid Indian passport. But you'll get problems when coming back to US in the future because of the overstay
