I am desperately looking for advise and answer to my question, hopefully you can help me.
In march 2011 I was charged and convicted of shoplifting in Wallmart in NJ of $54. That was the most embarrasing period in my life!!! I am currently on F1 visa status. Initially entered the US with j1 visa then changed to F1, always was in legal status never had any criminal offences before that incident. I got married in august 2011 to a green card holder who is eligible to apply for his citizenship already but we don't know if it will help me to get green card. What are my chances now in receiving the green card? Can he be green card holder and adjust me to his status or should he become a citizen or what are our options or next steps? We currently live in NJ. We are citizens of Ukraine. Please help me in this matter asap! Thank you!!!
