  • Advance Parole: What is final stage - Card/Doc production or Post Decision Activity?

    Hi all,

Can someone who received their AP successfully comment on what is the final status as shown on USCIS page? Is it Card/Document production or Post Decision Activity?

We applied for parents Green Card and AP. Website shows status as "Post Decision Activity" And says "On January xx, 2014, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I131 APPLICATION FOR USCIS TRAVEL DOCUMENT."

But we haven't received anything yet. And no we did not move - no change of address nothing.

However my question is was this the actual AP or is this simply a letter saying "AP was approved". Is the AP sent only in Card/Document Production stage? On USCIS is a tracking number provided when AP is mailed?

We received the EAD and the status shows Card/Document production stage and shows a tracking number, and we received it fine.

    Would really appreciate any help!
    Thanks!

If you applied for the Advance Parole and Work Authorization at the same time, the Employment Authorization Card probably has "Advance Parole" printed on bottom of card. It is referred to as a "combo card." Look at the EAD and see if it says "ADVANCE PAROLE" on bottom. That should answer your question. This won't be the first time someone has overlooked those two words on the bottom of the EAD.

Hi Ray, Thanks much for the response. Got excited and checked! The card at the bottom says: Not valid for reentry to the US". It does not say Advance Parole.

      So still looking for info.
      Thanks!

If the I-765 and I-131 forms had been submitted in the same package at the same time, it is very unusual that you did not get an Advance Parole card or combo card. If it has been a month or more since you received the EAD card, I would just go ahead and submit the I-131 form again, with a copy of the I-485 (Adjustment of Status) receipt Notice of Action (as proof that your Advance Parole should be fee-free). There is also a possibility that you filled out something incorrectly on the I-131 form, since it is used for about 4 different types of reentry permits, and some sections could have been interpreted incorrectly for issuance.

Keep in mind, however, that usual timeframe for an Advance Parole, or combo card is about 3 months, and it might still be premature to expect the Advance Parole.

Does I-131 status in USCIS page go to Card/Document production stage?

          Hi Ray,

Yes we submitted I-765, I-131, I-130, and I485 all together. And for I-131 the status on USCIS page says "Post Decision Activity" And says "On January xx, 2014, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I131 APPLICATION FOR USCIS TRAVEL DOCUMENT."

On USCIS page typically there is one more stage shown called "Card/Document production". For EAD it did go to that Card production stage after Post Decision Activity stage. My question is does I-131 also go to Card/Production stage? And is AP mailed only at that stage?
And is tracking number shown on website for AP when it is mailed?

          Thanks!

            Sandhy,

I can't answer your question about the "card production stage," as I haven't even paid attention to the USCIS status page step messages. I do about 4 or 5 of these a month and they have been coming paired on the combo cards for the last couple of years, unless one of the two forms (I-765 or I-131) had a data integrity issue.

I think your EAD came faster than uusual, as arrival time averaged 2-1/2 to 3 months for most of mine (and with combo card, also).

Thanks Ray. EAD took 2.5 months for us.

Anyone else who had received AP, and can check UCSIS case status and tell me what state is shown on the page - would be much appreciated!!

              Thanks,
              Sandhya

                Hi,

I am running into the same issue you had when you posted this. Could you tell me what happened afterwards? Did you end up getting your AP? Did you have to re-file I-131? Is AP (by itself, not with EAD) mailed out through priority mailing with tracking number or no?

                Thanks!
