Apply for EAD after I-130 approved through spouse and waiting to complete J-1 waiver?

Hi I am currently on an H1-B status and I am working in New York in a J-1 waiver job for three years (completion date 6/2016) as a physician. My wife, who is a US citizen will submit I-130 petition for approval now. My question is, can I obtain an employment authorization document "EAD" now while completing my waiver job even though, (please correct me if I am wrong) I cannot apply for adjustment of status (I-485) until my waiver job is completed? The reason I want an EAD is so that I can moonlight while doing my waiver job which is allowed in my employment contract. Can I get the EAD without being eligible to apply for I-485 since I must first complete 3 years in my j-1 waiver job? Thank you for your help.
