Question of EAD Status: Case was received at my local office

Could anyone please advise what does my EAD application status mean:
"On February 29, 2016, we received your Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, at your local office." They mailed me the receipt notice on Jan 25, 2016, why this status showed the local office received my case on Feb 29? What is step for?
I appreciate anyone who could advise.
