  • EAD Experience

    Hello Everyone!

I would like to share a positive feedback regarding EAD that we filed for my wife. I am on L1-A, and we arrived in US in June 2016. Within a week of arrival, we both applied for SSN. The officer at USCIS asked me if I applied for EAD for my wife since she is on L2 Dependent visa. I told we have not applied for it. We received our SSN in 10 days time. Since we did not have a residence and were due to move into apartment, we applied for EAD in July 2016. Following is the experience and timelines:

3 July - Applied for EAD and sent the documents to USCIS through USPS.
10 July - Received notification from USCIS about the recipt of the application.
3 October - Received notification that Cased is Approved.
10 October - Received notification that Card is sent for printing.
17 October - Received nottification that Card is picked up by USPS
22 October - Received the EAD card in mail.

As we aplied for SSN before EAD, we did not have to go for fingerprinting. What worked for me is carefully reading the instruction, carefully filling the form, and attaching the complete set of documents.

    I hope it helps!
