Does the filing fee apply for a renewal EAD category C09

I am about to submit I 765 work authorization based on approved I 485. This would be my third time renewing but since there is new instructions on the website from 2017 it does say that if renewing I 765 the filing fee does not apply does any one have any opinion on this or has encountered this situation?

I think now renewal is automated. My EAD reenwal also delayed, not sure how to communicated with USCIS on this.

There is nothing new. Filing I-765 for EAD and I-131 for AP (both initial and renewal) has always been free for I-485 applicants since 2007.

Also, if your I-485 is "approved", you are already a permanent resident and you are not eligible for an EAD. You would use a green card or other I-551 to work.
