General question about AP

Ok I filed for my wife I485, I-130. She Has been figer printed. And recieved AP. EAD card is ordered just have not received it yet. She is here legally. She has a B1/B2 visa. Our I-485 interview is on 5-20. she would like to go back to Mexico for mothers day and to see her kids. Which both kids have the pending I-130's that have been sent to the National Benefits Center. My wife is 6 months pregnant with our kid. Can she travel to Mexico to visit without any problems and if so. Does she need to use the AP to return. Does she need to stop and show it at the border before she leaves the US. or do you recommend to stay until all is approved?

Stay till approval. Various reasons including pregnancy, overstay etc could become a problem during re-entry.
