  • Expediting EAD Question

    Hello,

If I get a job offer and choose to expedite my EAD, do I have to work for the employer who offers me the job for a certain amount of time?
Also, what do they consider financial loss/hardship?

    1. No, I mean EAD means you can work with any employer.
    2. Usually it will be job loss + unable to pay mortgage + planned travel (bought tickets) etc...

from what have I have heard its usually a tough process

Also, Do you have to have already had an EAD in the past to apply for expedition? I have not had an EAD, I just got married last June and am still waiting on my first EAD. Does anyone know of any way I can speed up the process?
I'm not sure how I can fall into the category of "severe financial loss" but I am definitely in the category of financial hardship. Will that matter or is that out of the option? My wife and I are living on 12K a year right now and she is only working part time because she is in school. I feel awful that I can't work and provide for us but my EAD hasn't come yet.

If your request to expedite EAD is denied, does that affect your EAD process in any other way?

I am not sure if there is any other way of expediting...But for the second question, expediting doesn't affect your EAD in any other way. That means even if the expedite request is rejected, your original EAD application will still be processed normally.
