the notice still says my application be processed in NBC, but wonder why it is not MSC?!

IOE means your application was filed electronically.

This also happened to us when I renewed my wife's EAD. Instead of getting the MSC prefix, we got the IOE. In the receipt, it said the following:

Welcome to USCIS!Thank you for your recent submission. We have created a USCIS Online Account for you. With this account you can:•check the status of your case.•sign up to receive email notifications and text messages.•manage your account preferences and contact information.Log on and confirm your account within 90 days.To access your account, please follow the steps below:1.Visit us online at https://my.uscis.gov/account2.Select "Create a new account" on the right side of the screen, and follow the on-screen instructions for creating a new account in order tologin to the system.3.Select "Add a paper-filed case."4.Enter your "USCIS case receipt number" and select "Add case."5.Enter your "Online Access Code" (found on the upper right side of this notice) and your "Date of birth" in the fields provided.6.Select "Confirm case."NOTE: Access to your USCIS Online Account will expire 90 days from the receipt date listed at the top of this letter. We will continue processingyour application whether or not you access your USCIS Online Account. We strongly encourage you to confirm your USCIS Online Accountas soon as possible and then use it in the future as your preferred method for interacting with USCIS. If you do not access your account beforeyour code expires and you wish to access your account, you will need to contact customer service to request that your access code be re-set. If youhave questions about how to confirm your USCIS Online account or to request that your access code be re-set, please visit us online at https:

Overall, I think this works better as the information on the online account my.uscis.gov displayed more information. For example, there's a Document tab that lists PDF versions of anything USCIS sends you regarding the application.

Oh wow. Nice. Guess they do this like a trial for a few applicants. Hope it doesn't delay my renewal.

        Here is the timeline:

        2020-05-08 Mailed in I-765 Renewal
2020-05-27 Received the I-797 Receipt notice mailed from USCIS. This contained the information in my post above stating that they had entered the form electronically and created an account for us. Also received a notice that the previous biometrics were being used.
2020-09-04 I-765 was approved and the card was being ordered.
2020-09-16 Received the card in the mail.

Thanks for that. Yes - a 4 month timeline from I-797 receipt to EAD approval will work for me. My current EAD expires 3/31/2021. But I really hope my green card interview happens before that and I don't need this renewed EAD. Thanks for sharing your timeline.

I just received the above notification by mail and was able to add the cases to the USCIS account. Now the waiting game to see when either the EAD renewal is approved or the green card interview gets scheduled. Thanks for chiming in here.

Interestingly enough for us, a week after receiving the EAD card in the mail, our I-485 interview scheduling letter arrived in the mail. It stated that our interview was scheduled for 2020-10-08, giving us barely two weeks to prepare for possible questions and getting an updated I-693 done.

The wonderful online accounts never showed anything for our I-130 and I-485 other than Case Received or Fee Received. This has been the case since our filing in 2017-10-17. So three years.

Poramin - Wow, i certainly hope to get the interview before 2 years, so I don't have to redo the I-693. Why did it take so long for you? What were you adjusting from & what is your field office, if you don't mind me ask. Thanks.

For my wife's renewals, USCIS sent notices stating they re-used the biometrics. Thank goodness for that, huh?

Does anyone know how I can get the online access code? I filed paper based, but it came as a IOE. Received the receipt notices for I-131 and I-765, but none of it had the online access code nor all the description from the comments above.
