H1B to EAD conversion

Seniors,

I am currently working on H1B and also have EAD. My I-485 (secondary applicant) is pending.

I relocated from a X state to Y state and may not be able to work in my current company.

So, my question are

1. Do I need convert my status from H1B to EAD now ?
2. Will I be in valid status if my current company terminates my job and my status is still H1B ?
