Hi All,
I have a very strange problem. The passport office did a mistake by changing my father's spelling (His name should be Vaithyanathan and it is spelled as Vaidyanathan). But, my birth certificate has the name correct. Now, for the GC process, I need to submit the passport now and at sometime I have to submit the Birth certificate. I am pretty sure that they would recognize this mistake and issue a RFE or something of that sort. I would like to correct it before I apply. There are two options I am thinking.
1) Change the spelling in father's name in passport by applying through the local consulate. This would take atleast a month's time.
2) Do a gazette notification in India for my father's name so that wherever it is noted as Vaidyanathan should be changed to Vaithyanathan. This will make sure that I have the passport with me.
Please let me know which one is better or not time consuming.
