Employment Based Green Card Question

Hi Experts,
I am currently on H1B and completed 3 yrs in USA. My company is applying for my Green Card in few months. I have a question regarding maintaining H1B status while green card is in process.

Can I go back to India (for long period say 2-3 years) after my Labor and I140 is approved? Will it still continue my greencard process? In other words do I have to maintain H1B status in USA while my green card is in process after I140 is approved?

Green Card is for future employment, so yes it will continue as long as company/USCIS do not revoke the I140. Is the company ok to continue your GC when you are not with them in US?
