Can both spouses apply for GC

Hi All,
Can both the spouse's apply for a GC ie via their own separate employers?
And in each GC application quote the other spouse as a beneficiary?

Also what happens if one person GC come through before the other. Should the second GC be surrendered?

What stage of GC are you talking about? The first two stages can be mutually exclusive. It is suggested that the 485 be only 1 application.
