I work for a very big multinational firm in an Advanced field as Manager (Masters Degree from US + 7 yrs work exp). My firm was supposed to start my GC process this month but now they tell me that due to current economic conditions they cannot process it. I am on H1b first term ending April 2011. My queries are the following:

    a) What options do I have?
    b) I would like to begin my GC next year. Is moving to another firm my only option for applying for GC?
    c) Have there been cases of rejection for H1B extensions for 2nd term?
    d) I work for a Federal client as one of key personnel. Will that be an issue for H1B extension?

If your employer does not want to sponsor your green card, there is nothing you can do. Either they sponsor it, you move to some other company.

As long as the other company has the job and you qualify for it and they have obtained the LCA for the same, I don't see any problem.
