Hi all,
I'm a German citizen and a J1 Research Scholar since Aug. 2017, without home residency requirement. I filed for EB2-NIW last year (2018). Filed: I-140 on Oct. 29, and I-485/I-131/I-765 on Dec. 24.
My current J1 expires June 30, 2019. I had my biometric interview in January 2019. Since February 2019 my case is stuck in "Case Transferred To Another Office". I was hoping to receive my EAD/AP card before my J1 expires, but that seems unlikely at this point.
My university does not typically do H1Bs for postdocs, and they said it's too late to try H1B. So, they extended the J1's DS2019 to Dec 31, 2019.
I am concerned that the J1 extension will negatively affect my already filed I-485. Specifically, I am hoping to get the green card early next year (no later than June). Could the J1 extension ("non-immigrant intend") prolong the I-485's completion (assuming that the I-140 is approved)?
