Can one go for L2 (renewal) stamping in India if GC is initiated?

My employer is planning to initiate GC in March 2012. I am on L1A but not sure at this moment whether it will be filed in EB1 or not. My wife/kid are on L2. My visa stamp is valid up to 2014 but for my wife/kid the visa was extended in US and needs to be stamped if they leave the country. We are planning a vacation in May 2012 to India.

Is it a risk to go for L2 stamping assuming their GC would have been initiated by that time?

I am asking this as I remember seeing a question 'whether somebody initiated immigration' in the visa interview application form.

You or they can go for visa stamping. Not a problem.

You can write that your green card has been initiated.

No for your dependents. (No one has filed immigration petition for them. They are getting green card just because you are.)
