Questions regarding EB3 green card application process

Hi All,

I want to apply for green card in EB3 category. I was born in Venezuela but I am Indian citizenship.

Kindly let me know if the country of quota depends on place of birth or place of citizenship.

If it depends on place of birth (Venezuela), how long does it take to get a green card for EB3.

Citizenship. Place of birth means nothing, as most countries do not go by jus soli, but by jus sanguinis. Having said that, Venezuela does follow jus soli, so you should be able to apply for venezuelan citizenship - which of course means you would lose indian citizenship.

Choose - get venezuelan citizenship, save at least four years of waiting (considering PD for India vs rest of the world), lose indian citizenship. Or stick to indian citizenship, wait 10 more years for your PD to become current.
