Recently received a Green Card/Need urgent help

I am living in Canada me and my family has received a Green Card last Oct 2012 and the immigration officer told us you have to move in a year now the october is approaching my question is how can I extend this peroid because I am not ready to move yet .I am working in Canada can I exted this time period to move to US.Please help.

You must enter the US before the 1 year period. You can stay for a few days, and then leave after your passports have been stamped. If you'll be out of the country for more than 6 months and up to 2 years, apply for a re-entry permit for each of you. You must be in the US when you apply for that and when CIS receive the applications. You must also remain, or come back, for a biometrics appointment that will be a few weeks later. Do you have someone in the US whose address you can use? Where in the US will the Green Cards be sent?
