  • Filing for I130 for parents and have a question about my birth certificate

    Hi Experts,
I want to file I130 petition for my parents who are in India at the moment. I am a naturalized US Citizen. On my Indian birth certificate, only my father's name is listed and not my mother's. I am wondering if that will be an issue or will that birth certificate coupled with copy of parent's marriage certificate (with parent's wedding before my birth) be sufficient?
    thanks in advance

I'm not sure but you may need to amend your birth certificate to include her name if you want to successfully file a petition. And because you added your mother to the birth certificate so long after birth, mostly likely you and your mother will have to do a DNA test to prove blood relations.
