  • remove conditions on green card while living at different addresses

Hello folks, my wife got her conditional green card after we got married about 1 year ago. I'm a US citizen, and we are both graduating medical students. Unfortunately we are going to be interns at different hospitals for 1 year starting in June. This means that we will be ~350 miles away from each other, but in the same state. By the way, I'm guaranteed a job at the same hospital where my wife is after my year at the other hospital, so we are definitely going to be back to living together after 1 year. However, it looks like we will be living at different addresses when the time comes to file for I-751. I would be extremely grateful if anyone can give us some advice on the following questions:

    1. Can we still file for I-751?
    2. If so, is there anything we should prepare to prove a bona fide marriage?
    3. Do we need to (and how to) notify USCIS that we will be living at different addresses?
    4. At last, would we be needing an immigration lawyer?

    Thanks,

DURING THE 90 DAYS PRECEDING EXPIRATION OF HER CONDTIONAL GREEN CARD, SHE MUST FILE THE I-751 IF SHE DOES NOT, SHE'LL LOSE HER STATUS.

    2. If so, is there anything we should prepare to prove a bona fide marriage?

JOINT ACCOUNTS, BENEFICIARY STATEMENTS, PHOTOS TOGETHER, BOTH NAMES ON HOTEL AND RENTAL RECEIPTS.

    3. Do we need to (and how to) notify USCIS that we will be living at different addresses?

SUBMIT ADDRESS CHANGES TO USCIS ONLINE AT: https://egov.uscis.gov/coa/displayCOAForm.do

    4. At last, would we be needing an immigration lawyer?

NOT REALLY, UNLESS YOU WANT TO HELP PAY OFF HIS STUDENT LOANS.

    Thanks,
