I know very little about the process involved beyond reading a few articles here so i have a few questions
My wife is an american citizen and the pair of us are currently living in the UK.
Q1: Am I able to apply for an green card by marriage with both of us not living in the US at the moment
My mother and father-in-law in their late 60s/early 70s, are separated and earn negligible amounts of money but the father-in-law has savings, mother-in-law owns her house (where we would be living) and our house in the UK is worth at least £60,000 (house 2 doors away sold for this amount despite being in a lot worse condition) minus £13,000 mortgage which by current exchange rates is approximately $81,000. (not taking into the account the sale of items we'd sell instead of ship)
Q2: Would the money generated by the sale of the house provide sufficient funds for granting of a green card against the Poverty measure?
Q3: Could both in-laws be co-sponsors?
(be nice if father-in-law's savings alone covered the requirements - would be able to sell our house less quickly and therefore probably get a better price for it
)
Q4: Does a sponsor have to live in the same state. e.g. could a friend of mine in VA be a co-sponsor for us living in WA?
Thanks for any answers and extra advice
