  • I130 Question

I am a GC holder living in Boston and about to get married to a Indian national. I have heard that the processing time to get your spouse to the US if you are not a citizen is typically 3-5 years. But the most recent processing times at Vermont Service Center seems to indicate that they are currently processing I130 applications filed by permanent residents for their spouses for the month of Mar 2005. Does this mean that the VSC has become very efficient and the processing time is down to 1 year or am I missing something here. Any thoughts/ideas?

After I-130 is approved, you have to wait until priority date is current. And priority date is same no matter which service center (or which consulate, for that metter). They are currently, processing Jan 2002 dates. read http://www.immihelp.com/greencard/visa-bulletin.jsp

If you think about how you got your GC, after I-140 was approved, you had to wait until your priority date is current to file I-485. It is the same process.
