Consular Processing before temporarily visiting the US

Hello,

I am traveling to the US for 2 months in a week.

I am also intending to file for a Family based Green Card using Consular processing. My wife is a US citizen.

Should I wait to file until I return from the US?

I have a return ticket and a university degree to finish once I get back.
