  • F2B versus F1

    Hello,

I am a permanent resident and I have applied for my unmarried daughter over 21 in the F2B category. The petition was approved and her priority date is in May 2011. I can now become a U.S. citizen and her petition will be moved to the F1 category. However, the F1 category is moving slowly now and it is 12 months behind the F2B category. Should I remain a permanent resident and keep the petition in the F2B category? Is there a chance at all that her petition will be processed faster if I become a citizen? If you have been in a similar situation, would you please share your experience? Thank you very much for your time.

Keep permanent resident status if you can, F1 is almost one year behind F2B.
