  • Confusing Response From Nvc On I-864

I sponsored my sister for her and her family for immigration. I got a confusing letter from NVC. My income (without my wifes) itself is sufficient.

I do not understand on why this is sent on behalf of my wife's name. More importantly i cannot figure out what it is asking for.

    Two questions:

    1. What kind of contract is required between me (Sponsor) and my wife?

    2. IS the second point from NVC just reminding me to make two more copies of I-864A for the dependents? Is that all there is?

[x] I-864A, Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member, Checklist [x] We reviewed your financial evidence form and/or supporting documents. We found that the principal applicant's Form I-864A, Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member is missing. Please complete and submit Form I-864A. You can download the form and instructions at htttp://www.uscis.gov/i-864a.

[x] Please include a photocopy of the principal applicant's I-864A (if applicable) for each accompanying dependent listed in Part 3 of the I-864 and Part 5 of the I-864A (if applicable). You do not need to send copies of supporting documents for your accompanying dependents.

    Thanks

While your income is sufficient for sponsor, you may have filed JOINT tax return with your wife. For that reason,
    1. You will need to file I-864A (which is a contract between you and your wife (household member) that you both are sponsoring them together.
    2. You will send I-864 copies for each family member you are sponsoring, which means 1 for your sister, 1 for her husband and 1 for her child or if she has another child, 1 for another child, total 4 copies of I-864 and I-864A.
    3. Don't send supporting documents again.

May I know how many years it took for your sister's case to become current?
