  • Admistrative Processing Time

    Hello,
My father went for his green card interview in August. The embassy told him that his case has to go for routine administrative processing. Up to today, which is going to be 6 months, no news and no updates. I have contacted NVC, UCSIS, our sentor, and none of them were useful. NVC and UCSIS said that they sent every thing to embassy. in Homeland security website, if you check the cases by NVC number, it says,'his case has been approved and sent to embassy three days before his interview date". I just checked the US State Department, and it says it should not take more than 5 months for administrative processing. Does any one here has been waiting for so long for the administrative processing? The thing is that in the embassy website, it says." after 6 months, the medical records are expired." He has to do all of those again. I am just wondering what this administrative processing is. I also checked the FBI website for name check, and it said it takes only 30 days and in very very rare cases up to 120 days. Both FBI and CIA websites says that it should not take more than 30 days in any cases. I am just wondering. Any information will be appreciated.

Well all this info that you have posted is correct in papers ONLY. In realty there is NO set time frame and its really up to US embassy officials when they want to complete AP.

I just want to tell you some personal experience about a friend of mine.Who was married to a USC waited almost 4 years in AP before his visa was approved.

And on the day he was called in by US embassy to do his finger prints for green card, he happened to find out that there were about 12 other people in the waiting hall who had waited about the same time for there AP.

So all I can say is that have your finger crossed and just pray. Good Luck...

Thank you for your reply. I know for sure that for husband and wife takes a very long time. I heard at least one year, if they are lucky. Whoever I know, it has taken almost 2 to 3 years. That is because there is a priority of whom they process first. Family such as children under 18 and parents are first. I know whoever had parents got it within 3-4 months. I do not know why this embassy is so slow. Is it the embassy or is it that they send the application to other agencies?

      Thank you again
