Green Card - Outside US

Hi - I applied for GC for my parents. They got it Jan. They travelled to US on Jan 2016 and went back after staying for 6 weeks. They got plastic card with them. What is maximum date they can stay in India? Do they have to come in Sep ( After 180 days) or they can stay for a year to return to US. Appreciate quick response. Thanks

Beyond 180 days stay they would be asked many questions. Over 1 year then GC is cancelled.

They must spend the majority of their time in the US. GC=permanent resident. A few weeks, up to 179 days, overseas is acceptable, but they have to maintain a US residence.
